Bruleed Apple Baked Oatmeal

This oatmeal feels more like you're eating a decadent apple crisp or hearty apple pie than a nutritious meal. It was a HUGE hit with every single person in our family! Also, I loved the texture of it. I prefer to eat oatmeal right out of the pot with brown sugar or honey on top. Kenny's family likes it swimming in milk with brown sugar on top. This oatmeal was great both ways, so it met everyone's expectations!

This recipe is from one I adapted from the internet but I can't remember what site I found it on. Sorry!

Bruleed Apple Baked Oatmeal

2 2/3 cups old fashioned oats (not instant)
1/2 cup Craisins - Original recipe called for golden raisins-yuck!
4 cups milk, 1%
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, melted - You could use regular butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
2 medium apples, unpeeled and chopped - I used Fuji apples
raw sugar for bruleed top*

Heat oven to 350.
Mix everything together and pour into a 9 x 13 pan coated with cooking spray.
Bake uncovered 40 - 45 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed.
Turn your broiler on. Evenly sprinkle the raw sugar over baked oatmeal. Place directly under broiler.
Watch carefully for the next 1-3 minutes (until the sugar bubbles and begins to brown slightly).
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
Serve with additional milk if desired.

*The brulee works best if you bake these in individual custard cups. Otherwise, you'll lose the effect of the bruleed top in a 9x13 because you will transfer individual servings to bowls.

Even More Ballet

This is precious to me! I love how her little foot is pointed at her knee and how she's looking at herself in the mirror. It was a fun day!

More Ballet

Cute girl!

Ballet Party

All the girls looked so cute in their ballet clothes! I made Aubrey a birthday tutu to wear and we gave each girl a matching tutu to take home as a party favor. It was such a FUN party and the teacher did an amazing job! Aubrey still talks about it and wants to do another ballet party next year.

Aubrey's Ballet Party Cupcakes

These are long overdue, but I just got them from my sister so I'm off the hook. :) I made orange cupcakes with strawberry frosting topped with these ballet tutu toppers. They were so easy to make using craft paper, a little toule fabric, ribbon and a straw. This was my first attempt at cupcakes and they turned out easier than I thought.

Paging Dr. Aubrey

Aubrey loves dressing up like a doctor and writing notes on her medical chart. So fun! This was taken a couple months ago around her birthday. She actually wore this outfit to one of Hudson's doctor appointments. The doctor's and nurses couldn't get enough of her and let her use the otoscope and squeeze the bulb on the blood pressure cuff.

My Family

How cute is my family!?! We are seriously blessed!
